About the Garden
Veteran Women of Influence has teamed up with residents on Cook Avenue in St. Louis City's 18th Ward in the Vandeventer Neighborhood, to introduce a "Horticultural Therapeutic Naturescaping Project" aka A Healing & Meditation Garden Park, benefiting the Vandeventer Neighborhood.
In 2018, a garden lease for three vacant lots was secured through St. Louis City's Land Reutilization Authority (LRA) to be used for the location of the healing and meditation garden.
Our vision will incorporate a Labyrinth, Monarch/Wildflower garden, English Tea Garden, etc. and will attract butterflies, bees and birds. In addition, this garden park will reduce storm water runoff, protect drinking water and restore Missouri native plants into our landscape.
This activity is financed in part through an allocation of Community Development Block Grant funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the City of St. Louis' Community Development Administration and in part through the generosity of St. Louis University.
